Most of you will know about the Car Wash & Strip Bus located at CnrWarrigul & North Rds. Despite a lot of work it seems that the local councils and state government are unable to act on the wishes of the local communty to have this business moved to a more appropriate site.
The matter is now in the hands of the federal Advertising Standards Bureau, who despite receiving complaints about the picture on the bus, have decided that they know better than we do about what we want in our community, and have permitted he bus to remain.
This isn’t good government. Surely, if a community feels tha something other than an essential service or development is inappropriate for their area, then they should have the right of veto. We’ve seen the same disregard for communtiy views in regard to pokies, where the AAT have overruled community wishes and permitted pokies to be installed.
This sort of disregard for the well-being and views of the local communtiy will only change when we, the people, make enough noise.
In the Kittens matter, the latest Leader news revealed that Kittens are planning to expand their operations into at least two other suburbs. Now is the time to act!
Write to the Advertising Standards Bureau and let them know that images of naked women in conjunction with bikini-clad car wah attendants and a strip club are not acceptable.
